JPDS-NC & Jabotinsky School in Beit Shemesh, Israel Celebrate Chanukah

The JPDS-NC fifth graders joined their friends from our sister school, the Jabotinsky School in Beit Shemesh, Israel, in the lighting of the chanukiah for the second night of Chanukah. The two classes held a video-conference, hosted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, during which they shared greetings, songs, dances, sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), and ma’ot Chanukah (chocolate Chanukah gelt). On hand in Israel was the Mayor of Beit Shemesh, Moshe Abutbul, who offered greetings and blessings to the JPDS-NC students and teachers.

This program was part of an on-going partnership with the Jabotinsky School focused on putting a face on Israel for our children, and to bring knowledge of the diaspora Jewish community to Israeli children.
