Q. What is the annual Ru’ach Campaign?
The Ru’ach Campaign is the yearly fundraising drive to help cover the gap between tuition and the costs of operating the school. This year the gap is $1,950 per student.
Q. How does this relate to other fundraising activities at the school?
The Ru’ach Campaign is the foundation and focal point of our annual fundraising efforts. It allows us to build support for the mission of our school on a consistent basis over time. Events, such as the Purim Ball or Rabin Lecture, provide additional opportunities for our community to celebrate and support the life of our school.
Q. Can’t we just raise tuition to cover costs?
Tuition is set so that we can be both fiscally responsible and attract as many families as possible to a day school education. It is the generous investment of donors and the vitality of the annual Ru’ach Campaign that enable our school to fulfill its mission to the community. Like other non-profits, we rely on tax deductible contributions to augment our programs and carry out our mission.
Q. I already pay such high tuition, why do I need to give?
The fact remains that tuition at JPDS-NC, as in almost all independent schools, does not cover the full operating costs. Every child is subsidized by the annual Ru’ach Campaign. Regardless of how much tuition you pay or assistance you receive, the campaign is supporting your family. In addition to helping fund your own children’s education, your annual gift demonstrates your commitment to our entire community and brings our school’s mission to life!
Q. I am receiving tuition assistance, why do I need to give?
We are a small school where every child is valued, every parent is important to our community, and every gift has a profound impact. In order to successfully raise money from outside donors, JPDS-NC must demonstrate each year that 100% of our parents and staff are giving to the campaign. We ask that all parents stretch to make a significant gift from their family.
Q. How much should I give?
We ask that parents make JPDS-NC your family’s philanthropic priority while your child(ren) are enrolled at JPDS-NC… and hopefully beyond. At JPDS-NC there is no minimum (and no maximum☺) gift. The right gift is the gift that makes JPDS-NC a charitable priority in your life.
Q. Where does my money go?
Every dollar raised is directly channeled into the school’s general operating budget. Your annual gift funds everything from teacher salaries, benefits, and professional development, to educational technology, library books, and light bulbs.

Every child in our community directly benefits from every dollar
you contribute to the Ru’ach Campaign.
