Purim Ball and Auction
Sunday, March 11, 2012

The Purim Ball and Auction has been a venerable JPDS-NC tradition for many years. It is a time for our community to join together and celebrate JPDS-NC and to honor individuals who support our school or who serve as leaders in our community. Funds for the school are raised through the silent auction, where guests purchase donated items, and through the live auction, where guests contribute to our Susan Koss Scholarship Fund. Learn more about Purim Ball at www.jpds.org/purimball.

Alumni Events - visit our new Alumni Club Page
The Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation's Capital is constantly working to stay in touch and reconnect with alumni and their families. If you have exciting news about an alumnus, please email jpds.development@jpds.org so that we can post the news on our alumni page. Stay in touch and come visit!

Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Lecturemullen
This year's lecturer was Admiral Mike Mullen. Admiral Mullen joined The New York Times columnist and JPDS-NC alumni parent David Brooks in an in-depth look at the role of the armed forces as a moral, cultural and humanitarian force, and shared his vision and insights on the leadership and security challenges in an ever-changing
world. Close to 500 people attended the lecture this year.

JPDS-NC established the Rabin lecture series as part of the school's commitment to education in the community. Past Rabin lecturers have included Senator George Mitchell, Secretary Condoleezza Rice, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel, and Yuval Rabin, the late prime minister’s son. An outstanding curriculum complements the lecture and provides our students with insight into the life of Rabin, the history of Israel, and the value of conflict resolution and peace.

People of the Book Series
The People of the Book Series provides the forum for occasional gatherings designed to bring JPDS-NC parents and friends together to learn from and with our talented parent authors, scholars, policymakers and artists.

At our most recent forum, our own Stuart Levey, JPDS-NC parent and former Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the Treasury Department, who has been described as President Obama’s ‘enforcer’ against Iran, and as the top U.S. official in charge of financial sanctions against Iran and North Korea, reflected on his time serving in both the Bush and Obama administrations, with JPDS-NC parent and veteran Washington Post journalist Debbi Wilgoren.

Share the Nachas Day
Each year we celebrate together, m'dor l'dor, from generation to generation and welcome our grandparents and other special relatives and friends for a wonderful visiting day.
