How to Apply
1. Application & Fees Download application. Complete and sign the application form and return Please include with each application, per child: A non-refundable Registration Fee of $70 and a screening fee of $80. Make checks payable to "JPDS-NC." 2. Confidential Teacher Evaluation Form Download Confidential Teacher Evaluation Form for students entering: 3. Official Records ( All Applicants) All applicants must provide JPDS-NC copies of their child's school transcripts. Please give a copy of the JPDS-NC Transcript Request form directly to your child's school. The school must mail the Transcript Request form and student records directly to JPDS-NC, attention, Admission Office, by February 1. You may download the Transcript Request form here: Request for School Records. 4. Applicant Screening Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade Applicants: All incoming pre-K, kindergartners and first graders must be screened for grade and developmental-readiness. As part of the screening process for pre-K and kindergarten, your child will also attend a brief play session (lasting approximately 30 minutes) with the JPDS staff and other visiting children. The play session is generally scheduled on the same morning as the screening. As part of the screening process for first grade, your child will spend part of a day in a kindergarten classroom. The classroom visit is often scheduled on the same day as the screening. Upon receipt of your completed application, a screening day and time will be set-up. Please note that missed screenings and play sessions will be rescheduled upon payment of an additional screening fee. Second Through Sixth Grade Applicants: Upon receipt of the completed application, a classroom visit in the applicant's current grade will be arranged. We reserve the right to request additional information or screening on a case by case basis. 5. Tuition Assistance Application (optional) Download a copy here. If you will be applying for scholarship assistance, please note the deadline date of February 16. Applications presented after this date will be considered on a funds available basis. 6. Admissions decision letters Letters will be mailed to parents by March 15. 7. Tuition contract and deposit information By April 1, please send your signed contract and the $1,000 tuition deposit to JPDS' Admission Office. (Tuition and activity fees are $18,390 for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade for the 2009-10 school year).
