Pre-Kindergarten
On the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, please bring the following materials to school in a bag marked with your child’s name. Please do not label individual supplies, except those specified below:
kippot, backpacks or tote bags, lunchboxes, clothing, and Keepsake bag.

Kippah clips (hair clips)
2 Kippot (required for boys and optional for girls) labeled with names.
(NOTE: While all kippot are fine, we have found that the large style ones stay on better and may therefore may be easier for your child to manage. You can find them at Israeli Accents among other places.)

A large backpack or tote bag with child’s name clearly visible (JPDS tote bags are wonderful!) No wheels, please.
A weather appropriate change of clothing for your child including shirt, pants, underwear and a pair of socks. Please label all clothing with your child’s name and put it in a labeled Ziploc bag.
A lunch and snack each day for your child (only snack is needed the first day since the Pre-Kindergarten dismisses at noon on the first day of school, Monday, August 31. Please send snack and lunch on September 1 and all days after that.) Suggestions for snacks include: sliced apples, carrots, pretzels and juice boxes. Please label lunch boxes on the outside.
(NOTE: Because of individual dietary restrictions and food allergies, JPDS policy precludes children from sharing their food with classmates, although we teach them to share other materials and equipment. Your child’s safety and good health are our top priorities. Please reinforce this with expectation with your child.)
A 4X6 photo of your family in a frame (with a hook or tab on the back) that we can keep for the year and hang in our classroom.
A Keepsake bag: during the course of your summer, please help your child find a few special items and put them in a Keepsake bag, a brown lunch bag labeled with your name. These items should remind the children of their summers. Please join your child in decorating the Keepsake bag. We will share the items with each other during the first few weeks of school.
Options: one cuddle object, like a blanket or stuffed animal, to accompany your child at nap time.
