First Graders Reflect on Veterans Day

JPDS-NC students from Pre-K to Sixth Grade participated in an annual performance in honor of Veterans Day. The First Graders sang the classic American song “You’re a Grand Old Flag” with great gusto. “We practiced every day until the 10th to get ready for the Veterans Day performance!” exclaimed Zecharyah. “It sort of says thank you to God but we’re also thanking the flag,” mentioned Hadar, while thinking about the song and the Pledge of …

Designing and painting the sets will give students the chance to apply their artistic and …

We asked pre-K students about their thoughts and feelings before the big show. Yael J. said, “I feel happy because I want to be on stage.” Sam S. said, “I am a little nervous because there will be a lot of people I don’t know in front of me.” Caleb K. added, …

First Graders Script and Perform a Play about Endangered Gorillas

We started learning about endangered animals. We decided to learn about mountain gorillas. There are only 700 mountain gorillas left in the whole world because of the wars surrounding where they live and poachers. We wanted to make a play that showed our feelings about mountain gorillas and other endangered species. We voted about doing a play. The play won. There were many steps before we got to the play. First we needed to learn …
